Jammu, Mar 27: Under the leadership of Hon’ble Lt. Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha (Hon’ble President, IRCS, J&K-UT) and the supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K, the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT, carried out a series of impactful activities to support the community across the Union Territory. IRCS, J&K-UT, organized two batches of First-Aid Training programs—one spanning three days and another eight days—concluding on March 27, 2025. Participants included employees from M/S. Adkri Industries Pvt. Ltd., Samba, Kokuyo Camlin Ltd., Samba, and Dabur India Ltd., along with commercial vehicle drivers, volunteers, and others. The training covered essential topics such as disaster management techniques for earthquakes, fires, and floods, as well as first-aid procedures for wounds, bandages, fractures, bleeding emergencies, and burns. Special emphasis was placed on handling emergency situations, including resuscitating patients experiencing fainting or cardiac arrest. Practical demonstrations on Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and choking management were also conducted. A dedicated session on drug de-addiction was included for the participants. The training sessions were led by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma and Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Medical Officers, with assistance from Smt. Ravi Kant Magotra (Sup. Pharmacist) and Ms. Vironica Marwah (Field Officer, IRCS-J&K). Additionally, a free eye check-up was conducted for the employees. Upon completion, all participants received provisional certificates, marking a successful and fruitful training experience. As part of a community engagement initiative, students from the Department of Psychology, University of Jammu, visited IRCS, J&K-UT, to gain firsthand knowledge of the organization’s humanitarian efforts and core activities. During the visit, the students received an in-depth briefing on the Red Cross’s role in disaster response, health and safety services, support for vulnerable communities, promotion of international humanitarian law, and community service initiatives. Through interactive sessions conducted by Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Medical Officer, IRCS-J&K, the students learned how the organization alleviates human suffering during emergencies and crises. The students were also informed about various ways to engage with the Red Cross, including volunteering, donating, and spreading awareness about the organization’s mission and critical work. The day’s activities reinforced IRCS, J&K-UT’s commitment to humanitarian service, public health education, and community involvement, further strengthening its mission to serve society in times of need. |
