CHANDIGARH, Mar 28: Adding to the illustrious list of accomplishments of the students of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, SUO Rabya, an NCC Cadet (Army Wing) brought laurels to her institution and the nation by being selected for the prestigious Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) through the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Rabya is the only cadet from 1 Chandigarh Girls Battalion NCC, Chandigarh, under the Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh (PHHP&C) Directorate to have been chosen for this international program since 2011. As part of a distinguished delegation comprising one officer and six cadets, SUO Rabya represented India on a 10-day cultural exchange visit to Mauritius, where she participated in the country's National Day celebrations and engaged in cultural interactions with local youth, strengthening bilateral ties between India and Mauritius. During the visit, the delegation explored significant cultural and historical landmarks, including the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Ganga Talao, and L'Aventure du Sucre. The delegation also visited key sites like the Charamel Waterfront, Seven Colored Earth, Port Louis Harbor, the International Slavery Museum, and Aapravasi Ghat. They also experienced thrilling activities such as parasailing and speedboat rides at Île Aux Cerfs, making the journey both educational and adventurous. A highlight of the exchange was SUO Rabya's meeting with Mauritius' Youth and Sports Minister, Mr. Deven Nagalingum, who commended the cadets for their confidence and discipline. Additionally, they gained valuable diplomatic insights through a meeting with Mr. Vimarsh, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Mauritius. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in SUO Rabya's journey, showcasing her leadership, dedication, and excellence as a representative of India on the global stage. While appreciating the endeavours of the NCC (Army Wing) and 1 Chandigarh Girls Battalion, Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan commended Rabya's commitment and dedication, highlighting that she also proudly represented the college last year at the Republic Day Parade 2024.
