MCM bids adieu to Officiating Principal Suman Mahajan

Chandigarh, Mar 30: In a heartwarming farewell function, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, bid warm adieu to its Officiating Principal Ms Suman Mahajan, who superannuated after a glorious tenure as the Head, Philosophy Department, and then as Officiating Principal of one of the leading higher education institutions of the country. Ms Mahajan had an illustrious career, serving the college for 36 years. The farewell was a memorable and heartfelt event filled with admiration, gratitude, and nostalgia. Teaching and non-teaching staff members, and Ms. Mahajan’s family gathered to honour her distinguished career, recognising her dedication, leadership, and lasting contributions to the institution. The event was made memorable with the presence of family members Mr. Dinesh Mahajan, Dr. Smriti Mahajan, Dr. Aman Batish, Col. (Retd.) Batish, and Master Agastya. The event commenced with a felicitation ceremony as an expression of appreciation for Ms. Mahajan, and her family. This was followed by a moving presentation that captured Ms. Mahajan’s life, achievements, and significant contributions to the college. The slideshow beautifully illustrated her journey at the college that commenced in 1989, and the various roles and responsibilities that she shouldered with utmost grace and dedication, including that of Officiating Principal since November 2024. The college’s teaching and non-teaching staff members expressed their gratitude for Ms. Mahajan’s unwavering support and guidance, and presented her with tokens of appreciation. Overwhelming words of admiration, in the form of speeches, poems and songs, for Ms. Mahajan poured in as the staff members expressed their feelings of love, respect, and regard for her. Ms. Mahajan’s family shared anecdotes from her life that reflected her personality as a working woman and as a human being. On behalf of NCC (Army Wing), 1 CHD Girls BN, Ms. Mahajan was presented a Demi-Official Letter and commendation memento. A letter of appreciation was also presented on behalf of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali.
Ms. Suman Mahajan also shared her own reflections, highlighting the professional and personal bond she shared with the members of the MCM family. In her heart-touching farewell speech, an emotional Ms. Mahajan expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Punam Suri, President, DAV Managing Committee, Justice Pritam Pal, Vice President, DAV College Managing Committee (DAV CMC), Mr Shiv Raman Gaur, Director Higher Education, DAV CMC, her colleagues, students, and the DAV community. Her words, filled with warmth and sincerity, left a lasting impression on everyone present.
