Early Times Report SAMBA, Apr 2: In a major crackdown against drug smuggling, Samba Police arrested a drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana and recovered 5.7 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance from his possession. Acting on reliable intelligence, a police team led by SHO PS Bari Brahmana intercepted a car (JK19-0754) near Lane No. 15, Bari Brahmana, for checking. During the search, police recovered 5.7 grams of heroin from the driver's possession. The accused has been identified as Deepak Sharma, son of Ganesh Dass, resident of Ambaran, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu. He was immediately arrested, and the contraband was seized. A case (FIR No. 50/2025) under sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Bari Brahmana, and further investigation is underway. Samba Police reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate in its mission to create a drug-free society. |
