Early Times Report SAMBA, Apr 3: In a major crackdown against bovine smuggling, Samba Police successfully foiled two smuggling attempts, rescuing 44 bovines and seizing two vehicles used for illegal transportation in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SHO Police Station Ghagwal, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Samba and the overall command of SSP Samba, set up a checkpoint at NHW Tapyal. A truck container (NL01N-0553) coming from Kathua was intercepted, and during checking, 26 bovines were found crammed inside in cruel conditions. The animals were being transported without valid permission. The police rescued all the bovines and seized the vehicle on the spot. A case under FIR No. 48/2025, u/s 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act, has been registered at PS Ghagwal, and an investigation is underway. In another operation, police intercepted a truck without a registration number at the same NHW Tapyal checkpoint. Upon inspection, 18 bovines were discovered, tied cruelly and transported illegally. The animals were rescued, and the truck was seized immediately. A case under FIR No. 47/2025, u/s 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act, has been registered at PS Ghagwal, and further investigation is ongoing. |
