Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 3: Vijay Kumar Magotra has been awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Mass Communication & Journalism by Maryland State University, USA. The honor was conferred at the "India Iconic Achievers Award - 2025" convocation organized by the National Urban Rural Computer Literacy Mission (NURCLM) at Juhu Beach, Mumbai. The event was graced by eminent personalities from various fields, including Sanjay Nirupam, Former Rajya Sabha Member; Ajay Kesar, Income Tax Commissioner; and Dr. Kumar Rakesh, Chairman of Global Governance News Group. They, along with several film industry figures, felicitated awardees across multiple domains. Mr. Magotra, a proud son of the soil, was recognized for his 40 years of service in the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B). Throughout his career, he played a pivotal role in popularizing government welfare schemes through mega multimedia outreach programs, including Vartalaps involving VVIPs and former Chief Ministers of J&K. His contributions have previously earned him several accolades, including the Best Performance in Publicity - Lifetime Achievement Award (DFP, GOI, 2009) and the Abdul Kalam Sewa Samman (2023). Apart from his work in mass communication, Mr. Magotra has made significant contributions to print media by publishing articles on land, tourism, historical fairs, and festivals in leading newspapers and journals. He is also deeply involved in promoting dying cultural arts and sports, serving as the Managing Director of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan and the General Secretary of the Volleyball Association of J&K since his retirement in 2012. Expressing gratitude for the honor, Mr. Magotra thanked his parents, mentors, and well-wishers for their unwavering support.
