SKPA Udhampur launches training on space applications and drone technology | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Apr 22: A five-day training course on "Use of Space Applications in Policing including Drone Technology, Interception, and Investigation" commenced today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur. The program aims to enhance the technological capabilities of law enforcement by equipping 15 officers from various wings and units of J&K Police with cutting-edge tools and strategies. The inaugural function was graced by Shri Ramnish Gupta, JKPS, SSP, and Deputy Director (Administration), SKPA, who was the chief guest. In his address, Shri Gupta emphasized the transformative impact of space applications and drone technology on modern policing. He stated that access to satellite imagery and remote sensing can significantly improve decision-making, surveillance, communication, and emergency response coordination. Highlighting the role of drone technology, he noted that it has the potential to revolutionize search and rescue operations, event monitoring, and crowd control through advanced aerial surveillance and reconnaissance. The course is being coordinated by Inspector Vishal Manhas, with assistance from SI Dhian Singh, both faculty members of SKPA. Participants will undergo hands-on training in drone operation and explore the practical applications of space-based technologies in law enforcement scenarios. This initiative underlines SKPA's commitment to integrating advanced technology into policing practices, preparing officers for more effective and informed field operations. |
