| Catholic Church in J&K strongly condemns terrorist attack on tourists | | |

JAMMU, Apr 23: Bishop Ivan Pereira, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar expressed deep anguish and unequivocal condemnation of the horrific terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. This act of senseless violence has claimed precious lives and left several others injured, casting a dark shadow over our collective conscience.
"This brutal and cowardly act is an affront to the sanctity of human life and a betrayal of the values we hold dear as a nation-peace, harmony, and the dignity of every person," said Bishop Ivan Pereira. "We mourn the loss of innocent lives and pray for strength and healing for the families affected by this cruel tragedy." The Catholic Church stands in complete solidarity with the victims and their families in this hour of profound grief. We join the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) in calling for justice and for an end to this cycle of violence. We appeal to all people of goodwill to reject hatred and embrace the path of peace and reconciliation. All the schools in the region have remained closed to mourn the tragic loss of lives.
