JAMMU, Apr 26: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Vijaypur, Jammu, in its continuous endeavor to foster a culture of cyber security and digital resilience, successfully organized a Cyber Security Awareness Session today at the Convention Centre Auditorium within the campus.
The session was conducted by Shri Mohd Yaseen Kichloo, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Cyber Investigation Centre for Excellence, Jammu & Kashmir. Shri Kichloo, a seasoned expert in the domain of cyber crime investigation, delivered an insightful session aimed at sensitizing participants about the growing threats in the digital world and the urgent need to adopt safe cyber practices.
The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Hon'ble Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, Vijaypur, whose leadership in promoting cyber security initiatives within the institution was lauded by Shri Kichloo. He commended Prof. Gupta for his proactive approach in fostering a secure digital environment and raising institutional awareness about cyber safety.
Throughout the session, Shri Kichloo enlightened the audience about the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, ranging from phishing attacks, identity theft, ransomware, financial frauds to social engineering tactics. He explained how individuals, both at personal and professional levels, are being targeted and stressed the importance of developing strong cyber hygiene habits to counter such threats.
In an engaging and interactive format, Shri Kichloo conducted practical demonstrations and real-world scenarios, showcasing how cyber frauds typically occur and how individuals can identify red flags early. Participants were also guided through live activities, where they learned essential self-defense techniques against phishing emails, unsafe web links, and online scams. Emphasis was laid on recognizing suspicious behavior, securing personal data, using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and maintaining vigilance while sharing information online.
An important highlight of the session was Shri Kichloo's emphasis on the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both creating new opportunities and posing complex cyber security challenges. He urged all attendees to stay informed about AI-driven technologies and to develop a critical understanding of their ethical use and potential risks.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, administrative officers, IT teams, nursing staff, MBBS students, and BSc Nursing students of AIIMS Jammu, Vijaypur. The attendees actively participated in the Q&A round, seeking clarifications on day-to-day cyber practices, preventive measures, and institutional policies.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks to Shri Mohd Yaseen Kichloo, IPS, for his valuable contribution in making the audience more aware and better equipped to face cyber threats. The participants expressed deep appreciation for the session and highlighted the need for more such awareness programs in the future to remain updated with the ever-evolving cyber landscape.
