15 bovines rescued, two accused arrested by Udhampur Police | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Apr 27: In a major crackdown against the illegal transportation of livestock, Udhampur Police rescued 15 bovines and arrested two individuals in the Majalta area today. Acting on specific inputs, a police team from Police Station Majalta, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), was conducting routine vehicle checking at Baryalta area when they intercepted a group of bovines being transported on foot. Upon inquiry, it was found that the accused were moving the animals towards the Kashmir Valley without any valid permission. The police immediately rescued all 15 bovines and arrested the two accused on the spot. The arrested individuals have been identified as Noorani, son of Abdul Aziz, and Sarfaraz, son of Maqsood — both residents of Hiranagar, district Kathua. In connection with the incident, a case under FIR No. 39/2025 has been registered at Police Station Majalta under relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of other individuals and to dismantle the network behind the illegal transportation. Udhampur Police has reaffirmed its commitment to act tough against bovine smuggling and has urged citizens to report any suspicious activities. |
