Remembering Gazal Maestro Shyam Talib

Shyam Talib was a literary man and was the Urdu poet and he was famous in the literary circles of Jammu. He was the founder president of a cultural organization known as Adbi Kung and he has watered this literary organization with his sweat and blood and remained to serve it throughout his life. Though basically an Urdu poet and writer, he had equal respect for other languages and to be specific, Shyam Talib revered and loved Dogri as well as Kashmiri language. In the literary organization of Adbi Kunj, the weekly Mushara’s used to be held on various languages of Jammu and Kashmir and Shyam Talib always up to his passing away remained in the forefront of this literary organization which in fact was his birth child .Shyam Talib was a teacher by profession and he was a government teachers and regarded his profession as noble and divine and he honestly performed his duties as a teacher. Shyam Talib resided at Susheel Nagar Camp Road Talab Tillo. He was the legendry Ghazal writer and founder president of the Adbi Kunj literary and cultural organization. Shyam Talib known for his immense and great contribution to literature, he will be remembered fondly for his efforts to nurture and promote regional and national languages. It was Shyam Talib who played a pivotal and dominant role in promoting and enriching literature and fostering a platform for enriching literature for linguistic and creative diversity. His role in promoting regional and national languages is enviable. Throughout his life this legendry poet strategic role in promoting cultural and linguistic unity through his creative expression. His nature was very humane and was secular to the core and was always ready to help anyone He was a true Champion of the literary arts and was a renowned poet of Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Dogri languages and respected all the languages and contributed a lot in promoting literature and encourage and supported budding writers and poets till his death. His simple life, high thinking and his role in promoting and enriching regional and national languages will never be forgotten. Shyam Talib was a noted Urdu poet and writer who also had good knowledge of Hindi, Punjabi and Dogri and always remained intoxicated in the ecstasy of poetry and prose writings. He was a down to earth man and lived a very simple life and never made a show of his poetry and literary qualities and the qualities of head and heart. One would always see this literary genius to travel on foot to Shastri Memorial School Building Talab Tillo, Cultural Academy Abnove Theater, Jammu university for organizing Musharias in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Dogri and Kashmiri languages. He encouraged and groomed the budding poets and writers of various languages and throughout his eventful life played a pivotal role in promoting languages and literature. He was humble and humility was a characteristic of this literary man. One would also see him visiting the offices of Excelsior, State Times, Kashmir Times, North Lines and Udru newspapers for publishing the press notes regarding the weekly programs of Poetry. The literary organization Adbi Kunj has reached to the pinnacles of growth and became a household name in Jammu region because of the selfless, dedicated and sincere efforts of this doyen of literature. He always remained engrossed and busy in literary works and in promoting and enriching various regional and national languages. He was a tall poet of Urdu language and his poetry and write ups used to be published in national Urdu daily Hind Samachar. Shayam Talib gave his life, sweat and blood to promote and flourish regional and national languages. His death has come as a shock to the literary fraternity and his death was widely mourned in literary circles and academics. He was respected and loved by the literary people and was the darling of budding poets and writers of Urdu language. His death was widely mourned by the literary fraternity and the ordinary people. Former Chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, former minister R.S.Chib, Asweer Kishtwari a towering literary figure, writer and EX DGAT J&K and many great men mourned and condoled his death. His death has created a great void in literary field and it is difficult to fill it. Shayam Talib’s life and personality as a legendry poet and writer as well as his quality of simple life and high thinking will continue to inspire the poets and writers for many years. Shyam Talib was paid great tributes in the literary meetings and especially in the condolence meeting arranged by Adbi Kunj Jammu and Kashmir where the contribution of the great poet, writer and an honest and simple man was remembered and the young poets and writers were exhorted to follow the literary and humane qualities of Shyam Talib. May God grant heaven to this legendary man and give peace to his soul and courage to his family to bear the irreparable loss. In short Shyam Talib will be remembered for his love and contribution to languages and literature for many years.
