Issues of heatwaves and powercuts
6/23/2025 11:36:46 PM
PRERNA

As a citizen of Jammu; I am well known about the circumstances and the problems faced by the people of J&k. Now a days the heatwaves are touching the sky and the temperature is so high that it becomes very difficult for the people to go out and do their daily routine work. We know there is so high temperature and very humid weather that no one can do their work easily and comfortably. It has been told that the temperature would be higher now a days.
If we talk about current temperature, it is about 42°C and if we talk about last 3 to 4 days, on Monday the temperature was 43°C, on Tuesday it was 42°C and it recently it was 40°C. It has been informed by by JPDCL that the temperature would be high till next 3 to 4 days.
In my opinion, there must be no POWERCUTS because if there are electricity metre calculator and the bills are generated from them and also if high bills are there then there must be no powercuts. It becomes very difficult for the local people to afford this and pay high bills. Government should took some necessary steps to make it convenient for every citizen. As we all are aware about the functioning of meter calculator; there are benefits as well as losses. The benefits are like; it keeps a record of how much electricity is used by any particular area and it works according to their capability of production of electricity. But the disadvantages of loss is that the bills are generated according to the readings recorded by the meter calculator are so high and the powercuts took place multiple times a day.
As we know that jammu is a city of temples and different areas holds different temperature, some areas have medium temperature while some holds so high temperature that it is not bearable. The most famous temple of Jammu is Raghunath ji Temple and it looks so adorable and attractive at night and our city is known by this temple.
Despite all these ; I suggest you to think once; what if there would be no lights there, what if there would be no spark there; the city will not be delighted always.
Moreover, government should take some measures to overcome the difficulties caused by heatwaves and powercuts. Heatwaves and rising temperature can cause a major stoppage of work of ordinary people. They cannot go out and feel comfortable. Also children face so much difficulty these days; old-age people and children feel suffocated; as they are not strong enough to cope up with the heat waves and the rising temperature.
Our educational system is much affected by this rising temperature and summer season. Students are not able to focus on their studies and not able to give time to learn due to this current hazardous situation. They feel so uncomfortable to do their work on these humid and hot days. The summer season always cause so difficulty to the people and government is already aware of its effects and causes. So, it is upto them; how can they co-operate with this worseful and hard situation.
From my point of view, there must be pre- planned measures or steps should be taken to overcome the difficulties caused in this season.
