Sainik Sahayta Kendra
7/18/2025 11:47:33 PM
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently accorded sanction for the establishment of the Lieutenant Governor’s Sainik Sahayta Kendra (LGSSK), a dedicated institutional mechanism to assist and address civilian grievances of serving soldiers from the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces.
The Kendra aims to provide systematic grievance redressal support to soldiers who are either posted in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir or originally belong to the UT and are presently serving in other parts of the country.
It shall serve as a single-window platform for receiving, assessing, and facilitating resolution of grievances submitted by soldiers. It will also arrange appointments with concerned civil or police officials at the district level, follow up on pending matters, maintain a performance dashboard for monitoring, and submit quarterly performance reports to the Lieutenant Governor.
By creating a structured and accessible support system, the LGSSK is set to bridge the gap.
The system will ensure transparency, accountability, and regular evaluation—qualities that are often missing in grievance redressal mechanisms elsewhere.
The significance of this initiative lies not just in its administrative innovation, but in its moral and emotional impact. It sends a powerful message: that the government stands firmly behind its soldiers not only when they are in uniform on the frontlines, but also when their families face difficulties at home.
The initiative reaffirms the age-old Indian sentiment of respect and gratitude towards the armed forces.
Moreover, the LGSSK could become a model for other states and Union Territories to follow. With a large number of soldiers serving across the country from various regions, a system like this has the potential to be replicated nationally. It reflects a much-needed shift in governance—one that places the welfare of defenders of the nation at the centre of civil administration.
The Kendra also strengthens the bond between the civil society and the armed forces, fostering a sense of belonging and institutional empathy. In times where civilian-military synergy is vital to national stability and internal security—especially in sensitive regions like J&K—such mechanisms reinforce trust and cooperation.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha deserves commendation for translating respect into action through this initiative.
As the Kendra begins its operations, the onus will now be on district-level officials and the LGSSK staff to uphold the sanctity of this noble mission ensuring that no soldier’s plea goes unheard, and that their sacrifices are honoured not just in words, but in deeds.
