Brainstorming session on new academic programs at SBSSU Gurdaspur

GURDASPUR, Sept 26: A brainstorming session was organized at Sardar Beant Singh State University (SBSSU), Gurdaspur, under the wise guidance and chairmanship of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. K. Mishra, to deliberate on the introduction of new academic programs for the upcoming academic session.
The meeting was attended by eminent outside experts, including Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Director, Pt. Deen Dayal National Institute for Persons with Physical Disability, New Delhi; Dr. Amit Kauts, Professor, Department of Education, GNDU Amritsar; Dr. Bharat, Professor, Department of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Dr. Rajeev Garg, Director, Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmacy, Hoshiarpur; Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Designer Consultant and (Retd.) Professor, IKGPTU Mohali Campus; and Sh. Ravish Abrol, Consultant.
The session was coordinated by Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Director (New Programs) and Sh. Lalit, Coordinator (New Programs), with active participation from Dr. Ajay Kumar, Registrar; Dr. Harish Pungotra, Dean Academics; Dr. Ranjit Singh, HOD Civil Engineering; and Sh. Baljeev Kumar, HOD Chemical & Bio-Tech.
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor emphasized the University's vision to expand opportunities in high-demand areas, focusing on Pharmacy, Paramedical, Nursing, Law, Architecture, and interdisciplinary education. Experts stressed aligning curricula with NEP 2020, employability skills, industry relevance, and research orientation. Several new courses, including B. Pharmacy, Law (LLB, LLM, Ph.D.), B.Ed., ITEP, B.Ed. (Special Education), B.Sc. (ECCE), Paramedical programs, and innovative degrees like B.Sc. in Building Design, were identified.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable contributions of all participants.
