Omar promises to make LoC trade meaningful
5/10/2009 11:53:42 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, May 10- While continuing to launch scathing attacks on opposition People’s Democratic Party, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday promised to end impediments of communication and currency in the cross LoC trade.
“We want more trade and travel routes along the Line of Control. Traders will soon see restoration of telecommunication so that they get freedom to talk anywhere while currency issue would be settled soon as we crave for making the Cross LoC trade more meaningful so that it would benefit every person,” Omar Abdullah told an election rally at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.
“These elections are being held to choose Prime Minister of India and there are only two candidates including Manmohan Singh and RSS and BPJ’s L K Advani. We support Singh and want to know as who PDP supports? Can’t it be construed that their candidate is Advani who calls for closing all trade routes, attacking Pakistan and ending peace talks,” he said.
Omar Abdullah also asked PDP president as to what she did in the parliament during her tenure as MP.
“What did they do in parliament? They never talked of self-rule or demilitarization and now are raking up the issues to befool people,” he said.
Omar Abdullah asked people to give National Conference hat-trick from the constituency and ‘promised’ to end unemployment in the district.
Omar said that next six years of NC-Congress coalition in the state would be the ‘golden’ period of development where everyone will enjoy equal opportunity to grow and develop adding that justice would be the benchmark of the governance of his government.
“Our every effort would be to seek welfare for all areas and to reach out people in far flung and remote pockets for all round development,” he said.
“Whatever commitments have been made to the people during the electioneering of 2008 assembly elections would be fulfilled,” he added.
The Chief Minister said that the struggle of National Conference for permanent peace and continuous development of Jammu and Kashmir will go unabated to achieve the ultimate goal of permanent peace and prosperity.
