Hindi Fortnight Prize Distribution Ceremony at Pondicherry University

NEW DELHI, Nov 14: The Hindi Cell at Pondicherry University was established in 2004 with the objective of implementing the Official Language Policy of the Government of India. This initiative also fulfills a constitutional responsibility. In line with this mission, the Hindi Cell organized 14 diverse competitions-including Dictation, Handwriting, Essay Writing, Shabda Shakti, Poetry Writing, and Elocution. These activities highlighted the University's ongoing commitment to fostering linguistic pride and national integration through the promotion of the Hindi language.
The competitions were open to various categories, including teaching and non-teaching staff, research scholars, and university students. Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners, with prize amounts set at Rs 1,500 for first place, Rs 1,250 for second, Rs 1,000 for third, and Rs 300 for consolation.
Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Puducherry, was the Chief Guest at the event. He distributed cash prizes and certificates to 69 participants, including winners and consolation prize recipients. In his address, Prof. Babu encouraged participants to take part in greater numbers in future events and commended their efforts. Prof. Rajneesh Bhutani, Registrar (i/c), also assisted in the prize distribution and provided valuable insights into the Official Language Policy and related constitutional rules.
The dignitaries present praised the active involvement of the university community and emphasized the importance of promoting Hindi for effective communication and administrative efficiency. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Jaishankar Babu, Head of the Hindi Department, and Prof. Padmapriya, Nodal Officer, Bhartiya Bhasha Anubhag. Dr. G. Swathi, Hindi Officer, and Prof. Chakradhar Behera, Coordinator of the Hindi Cell, organized the program. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and organizing committee members for their contributions to the event's success.
