| Collective Effort Is The Way Forward | | | While addressing the Strategic Management Forum Conference on Policy Making and Strategic Planning for achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called foie ending the “Insider and outsider” saying that such narratives create hurdles in the development process. The point raised by LG Sinha needs to be pondered upon as the “insider, outsider” narrative can take a dangerous turn if it’s not nipped in its bud. Such narratives breed mistrust, deepen social fault lines and divert public attention from real issues of governance, growth and welfare. History stands testimony to the fact that development thrives in an atmosphere of inclusion and cooperation, not suspicion and exclusion. When people are divided into artificial categories, the collective energy required for nation-building gets dissipated. During the past few years Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a massive development and benefits of programs like Modern India and Digital India have reached the people on the last ladder of development. The decentralized governance has brought about significant positive change. The continuous efforts have been put to ensure that policies are not merely on paper but are responsive, morally sound, and action-oriented, thereby shaping the commitment to a people-first approach. The entire focus of the government has been on putting J&K on the path of prosperity and development. But a few people have created a confusion by raising issues like who is the insider and who is the outsider. After August 5, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir has been completely integrated with the Union of India. The abrogation of Article 370 has ended the insider, outsider debate forever. Everyone irrespective of the place or region he/she belonged to has played an important role in J&K’s development and are a part of UT’s success story. There has been a conscious effort to ensure that policies do not remain confined to files and official statements. The focus has been on making governance morally sound, action-oriented and people-centric. This shift has helped restore public trust and reinforced the idea that development is not a privilege for a few, but a shared right of all citizens. The government’s continuous emphasis on accountability, efficiency and inclusivity reflects a firm commitment to putting Jammu and Kashmir on a path of prosperity. The entire energy has been focussed on getting positive results so there is no room left for ‘insider, outsider’ debate. It needs to be buried by sending a clear message that we are all Indians. |
