National Mathematics Day celebrated at Govt HSS boys Poonch

Poonch, Dec 22: Government Higher Secondary School Boys, Poonch, celebrated National Mathematics Day 2025 with great zeal and enthusiasm to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. A large number of students and teachers participated in the programme, reflecting the strong academic spirit of the institution.
The celebration was organized by the Mathematics Department with the aim of promoting logical thinking and highlighting the importance of mathematics in everyday life and scientific development.
On the occasion, Senior Lecturer in Mathematics, Mohd Alyas Choudhary, delivered an insightful address highlighting the life, struggles, and remarkable contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan. He emphasized that mathematics forms the backbone of all sciences and plays a crucial role in developing analytical and problem-solving skills among students. Senior Lecturer in Persian, Mohd Iqbal, also addressed the gathering and shed light on the historical significance of mathematics and its close relationship with culture, philosophy, and intellectual growth. He encouraged students to develop a positive attitude towards mathematics and to pursue knowledge with dedication.
ANO of School Dr. Nusrat Hussain Shah spoke on the relevance of mathematics in modern times and motivated students to overcome fear of the subject through conceptual clarity and regular practice.
The programme was conducted smoothly with technical assistance provided by Harsimran Singh, Teacher, and Waseem Ahmad, Vocational Teacher, whose efforts ensured the successful organization of the event.
Students participated enthusiastically in various activities, including mathematical quizzes, problem-solving exercises, speeches, and poster displays, making the event both informative and engaging.
The celebration concluded with the message that mathematics is not merely a subject but a powerful tool for understanding the world, and students should strive for excellence through hard work and perseverance.
