Akhnoor, Dec 26: Tributes poured in across Akhnoor District, in Akhnoor Constituency on the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a day also observed as Good Governance Day. The senior BJP leader and Prabhari BJP District Akhnoor Vinay Gupta, MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat, BJP District President Akhnoor Kuldeep Raj Sharma, former MLA Rajeev Sharma, Seh Prabhari District Akhnoor Vaishno Sharma, DDC Bhushan Bral, Surinder Singh District General Secretary, Mandal Presidents Deepesh Singh, Neeraj Shastri, Gourav Manhas, Shamsher Singh, and other prominent party figures came together to honor the visionary statesman.
Their speeches highlighted Vajpayee's enduring legacy as a leader who strengthened Indian politics and continues to inspire the Modi government's resolve to build a 'Viksit Bharat'—a developed India. The gathering, held at a prominent venue in Akhnoor, drew an enthusiastic crowd of BJP workers, local residents, and community members.
Vinay Gupta emphasizing the seamless blend of remembrance and governance in BJP's approach. "Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was not just a poet and orator but an architect of modern India," Gupta remarked, underscoring the event's role in reinforcing good governance principles. Addressing the attendees, Vinay Gupta elaborated on Vajpayee's transformative contributions. "Whether it was to make India a nuclear-powered nation or to realize good governance, under his leadership, the NDA government presented a governance model that advanced heritage and science together before the country," Gupta stated. He portrayed Vajpayee as "a powerful signature of public service and organizational strength in Indian politics such that he can never be forgotten." He further connected Vajpayee's vision to current initiatives, noting how the Modi government draws inspiration from his policies on infrastructure, economic reforms, and national security to propel India towards self-reliance.
MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat echoed these sentiments, praising Vajpayee's role in fostering unity and development. "Atal ji's leadership exemplified 'Good Governance Day'—transparent', efficient, and people-centric," he said, urging the youth to emulate his dedication.
Rajeev Sharma (ex.MLA) stated that several landmark schemes launched during Vajpayee’s tenure as Prime Minister continued to benefit people even today. He highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, stating that these initiatives strengthened rural infrastructure and expanded access to education, playing a vital role in nation-building.
Kuldeep Sharma said the nation was remembering Atal Bihari Vajpayee as a towering statesman whose contribution to India’s progress remained unmatched. He described Vajpayee as a skilled politician, accomplished writer, and powerful orator whose leadership style had left a deep impression not only on his supporters but also on political opponents.
