Jammu, Dec 26: The Opening Ceremony of the District Kathua Taekwondo Championships 2025–26 was held with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit, marking a significant moment for martial arts in the district. The championship has attracted wide participation and strong support from the sporting fraternity of Kathua.
The event was graced by Shri Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Atul Pangotra attended as the Guest of Honour. Their presence added prestige to the ceremony and motivated the young athletes participating in the championship.
The championship is being conducted under the leadership of Shri Amit Kumar Badculia, Secretary, Taekwondo Association of District Kathua, with dedicated support from Mr. Pushap Thakur, Mr. Pankaj Spolia, and Mr. Vishesh Thakur, who played a vital role in the smooth organization of the event.
Around 150 players from various schools and clubs across District Kathua are participating in the championship, showcasing their skills, discipline, and competitive spirit. The event aims to promote Taekwondo at the grassroots level and provide a competitive platform for emerging talent.
The medalists of this championship will represent District Kathua in the upcoming 28th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2025, making this event crucial for district-level selection and talent identification.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Rajesh Sharma (DC Kathua) congratulated the entire organizing team of the Taekwondo Association of District Kathua for conducting such a wonderful and well-organized event. He appreciated their efforts in encouraging youth participation in sports and emphasized the importance of sports in character building, discipline, and overall development of young athletes.
The opening ceremony concluded on an inspiring note, setting the tone for exciting and competitive matches in the days ahead.
