| SDM Nowshera inspects Rajal gravity feeder channel | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, May 21- To inspect the pace of work on the ongoing projects, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Nowshera, Harvinder Kour today visited the site of Rajal gravity feeder channel and directed the executing agency to speed up work on the project so that it could be completed ahead of schedule.. During the inspection, the SDM was apprised that the 6080 meter long channel with discharge capacity of 60 cusecs is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 17.50 crore, of which Rs 5.77 crore has already been incurred by March last. The works undertaken include construction of 395 meter long aqua duct, platform cutting etc. The Executive Engineer, Irrigation disclosed that the project is stipulated to be completed by March 2011. She was further apprised that after completion of this scheme, six villages between Rajal and Lamberi, with a population of more than 10,000 souls, would be provided irrigation facilities. Earlier, these villages were being provided irrigation facility through Rajal Lift Irrigation Scheme but due to shortcoming in the power supply and other technical reasons, steady supply of irrigation water could not be realized. Now with the completion of new gravity system, the entire area of 2417 hectares will be irrigated.
