JAMMU, Jan 2: Rajya Sabha MP and J&K BJP President Sat Sharma CA, today said that Begampura was the dream city envisioned by Guru Ravidass, reflecting a society rooted in equality, justice and human dignity. He said that Guru Ravidass was a revered Indian saint of the 15th century, who fearlessly opposed social evils such as untouchability, caste discrimination and inequality, and dedicated his life to spreading the message of love, compassion and universal brotherhood.
Sat Sharma CA was speaking after unveiling the annual calendar of Shri Guru Ravidass Temple, Vicenza, Italy.
BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, former Mayor Rajinder Sharma, British Ravidasia Heritage Foundation (BRHF) Indian Branch General Secretary Balbir Ram Rattan, BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra and BJP Media Department Co-Convenor Sanjay Bakshi, also joined Sharma, to unveil the calender.
Elaborating on the concept of Begampura, Sat Sharma CA said that Guru Ravidass imagined a land without sorrow, fear, or social barriers, where every individual enjoyed equal rights and lived with mutual respect. He said that the vision of Begampura continues to inspire generations and remains highly relevant in today's world, where the values of equality and justice are more important than ever.
The calendar has been designed and prepared by Shri Guru Ravidass Temple, Vicenza, Italy, with active cooperation of the British Ravidasia Heritage Foundation, UK.
Sat Sharma CA appreciated the collective efforts behind the initiative and said that such creative endeavours play an important role in spreading the teachings and philosophy of Guru Ravidass.
He further said that the followers of Guru Ravidass settled in different countries are doing commendable work by spreading his message across the globe and by connecting younger generations with their spiritual and cultural roots.
On the occasion, Sat Sharma CA extended his heartfelt congratulations to BRHF and Shri Guru Ravidass Temple, Vicenza, Italy, for working in unison to bring out a calendar dedicated to Guru Ravidass. He also lauded Balbir Ram Rattan for bringing the calendar to Jammu for its unveiling.
Balbir Ram Rattan, on the occasion, explained the idea behind preparing the calendar and highlighted its significance, saying that it aims to promote awareness about the life, philosophy and universal message of Guru Ravidass among people worldwide.
