District police Jammu records major breakthroughs in war against drugs during 2025

JAMMU, Jan 3: District Police Jammu achieved significant milestones in its sustained fight against the drug menace during 2025, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics through focused enforcement, intelligence-led operations and community participation.
During the year, 204 FIR's were registered under the NDPS Act, resulting in the arrest of 311 accused, including 35 women drug peddlers, and seizure of 71 vehicles involved in narcotics trafficking. Of these, 207 accused were arrested in heroin (chitta) cases, while 51 arrests pertained to non-chitta cases.
Recoveries included over 15 kg's heroin worth 60 Crores in the international market*, 78 kg ganja, 114 kg poppy straw, capsules and opium.
Notably, 11 commercial quantity NDPS cases were detected, leading to the arrest of 38 accused, reflecting intensified action against organised drug trafficking networks. Further, 11 hardcore drug peddlers were detained under the stringent PIT NDPS Act, demonstrating firm action against habitual offenders.
To dismantle the financial backbone of drug syndicates, Jammu Police attached 03 immovable properties worth ?85,70,285 and 01 movable property (vehicle) worth ?11,40,000, identified as proceeds of narcotics and 03 identified drug hotspots within District were demolished during the year.23 drug-linked,illegal structures demolished in year-2025
48 convictions secured in during 2025.
Supply-chain investigations led to 12 FIRs and 36 arrests across Jammu, Punjab, Kathua, Udhampur and Rajouri, using a strong administrative and financial investigation approach.
Large-scale destruction of seized narcotics was carried out under Section 52-A NDPS Act during 2025.Contraband seized in 82 Cases was destroyed including

Cannabis-49 Kg 175 Gms
Charas -44 Kg, 387 Gms.
Ganja -4 Kg, 90 Gms
Heroin- 1 Kg 406 Gms.
Brown Sugar-01 Kg
Capsule -38480 Nos.
Corex -660 Bottle
Tablet-6020 Nos.Value of this destroyed seized contraband is worth several crores.
Alongside enforcement, Jammu Police placed strong emphasis on awareness and rehabilitation. During 2025, 27 drug awareness programmes, 325 PCPG meetings, 179 Thana Diwas, 469 IEC campaigns and 09 awareness programmes were conducted within District by Police Drug De-addiction & Rehabilitation Centre Channi,Jammu .
The Police Drug Deaddiction, Rehabilitation and Mental Health Care Centre, Channi, Jammu catered to 1,667 OPD patients and admitted 311 patients during the year.
Jammu Police appeals to the general public to actively support the War on Drugs by sharing any information related to drug peddling or abuse on helpline 100. The identity of informers will be kept strictly confidential. Together, we can safeguard our youth and build a drug-free society.
