 early times report
Jammu, Jan 9: NSS SMVDU Katra Volunteers during the seven-day special camp organized a cleanliness drive at the Ravi River bank near Purthu village Basohli, Kathua. The volunteers worked together with dedication and a strong sense of responsibility towards nature. During the drive, nearly 40 kg of waste was collected, including plastic wrappers, bottles, and other non-biodegradable materials.Purthu is known for its peace, serenity, and a natural gift for mankind, a place where people come to relax and feel connected to nature. Seeing garbage in a place meant to offer calmness made us realize how insensitive people have become towards the environment. The cleanliness drive was not just about cleaning the area, but it was an eye-opening experience for all of volunteers. It reminded all the volunteers that protecting nature is not someone else’s duty but our own responsibility. Through this activity, the volunteers understood the importance of maintaining cleanliness and spreading awareness among people so that such serene places remain pure and beautiful for future generations. By reducing plastic use, managing waste properly, and respecting natural spaces, we can protect these places. As NSS volunteers, we all volunteers pledge to promote sustainable practices and inspire others to preserve the peace and beauty of nature for future generations.
