Jammu police foil two bovine smuggling attempts under Operation Kamdhenu

JAMMU, Jan 9: Continuing its sustained crackdown against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jhajjar Kotli Police successfully foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts.
During the intervening night of 08/09.01.2026.
A police team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli intercepted and rescued 08 bovine animals and seized two vehicles, namely Mahindra load carriers bearing registration numbers JK19A-3092 and JK19A-5734, which were being used for illegal transportation of bovines.
The drivers of the seized vehicles were apprehended and identified as Mohd Ashraf Bhat, S/o Mohd Jamal Bhat, R/o Magham, Tehsil Kokernag, District Anantnag, and Javed Ahmed Kasana, S/o Abdul Qayoom, R/o Qazigund Bakerwal Chak, Tehsil Dooru, District Anantnag. Both were taken into custody for their involvement in the illegal transportation of bovines.
Accordingly, FIR Nos. 04/2026 and 05/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
