Sadhotra, Gupta slams withdrawal of permission of SMVDIME by MCI
1/9/2026 9:51:14 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 9: Senior leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference from Jammu province today addressed a meeting of the District Jammu Urban at the party's Provincial Headquarters, Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu. The meeting was organised by District President Jammu Urban, Chandar Mohan Sharma, in coordination with State Vice President, Women's Wing, Bimla Luthra, of party functionaries.
Addressing the gathering, National Conference Additional General Secretary, Ajay Sadhotra, highlighted the people-centric approach of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government and its focused development outreach to Jammu city. He said that unlike the BJP's much-publicised Smart City projects, which stood exposed during the recent torrential rains that inundated large parts of Jammu, the present government is delivering tangible relief to the people.
"Under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, development in Jammu city is no longer limited to cosmetic projects. Welfare measures such as free bus services and the provision of additional ration are directly benefiting the AAY household. This is compassionate governance rooted in accountability, not empty slogans," Ajay Sadhotra said.
Provincial President Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, in his address strongly criticised the recent withdrawal of permission of SMVDIME (Medical College) by the MCI, terming it a direct blow to the future of Jammu's youth. He said the decision has shattered the aspirations of thousands of students who were hoping for quality medical education and employment opportunities within the region.
"The withdrawal of permission of SMVDIME by the MCI has bartered away the future of Jammu's youth. Such arbitrary actions not only deprive young people of opportunities but can also prove detrimental to peace and stability in the Jammu region. The National Conference will not remain silent on issues that directly affect the educational and professional prospects of our youth. It is unfortunate that the role of BJP in this episode is anti Youth and against the Jammu region," Rattan Lal Gupta said.
The speakers reiterated the National Conference's commitment to safeguarding the interests of Jammu region and ensuring balanced, inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir. They urged party workers to strengthen grassroots outreach and effectively communicate the policies and achievements of the Omar Abdullah-led government among the masses.
