Better Health than Living with Nature
1/9/2026 10:36:25 PM
Dr. Vijay Garg

Connecting with nature has benefits in mental health issues. In one study, it has been confirmed that activities associated with nature in the courtyard and outside reduce stress within us, improve moods and promote positive feelings.
A recent study found that nature-related activities improve our mental health, with benefits for those who are struggling with mental health issues. The study was conducted by the University of York, which shows that outdoor nature activities reduce stress within us, improve mood and promote positive emotions in us. It has also been found that 20 to 90 minutes of activity which we do within the 8 to 12 week range, have better results.
The study has proven the benefits
The lead author of this study, Dr. from the Department of Health Sciences, Peter Conventry says that we are already familiar with the fact that connecting to nature is beneficial for our physical and mental health. But this study of ours has further reinforced the fact that our mental health is improved by being in synchronicity with nature-related activities. Whether these nature-related activities are done on your own or with others, everyone benefits. This study also found that outdoor activities improve physical health less than mental health. This study has encouraged people to connect with nature by working together. These activities related to nature are meaningful for us and by being in the middle of nature, we are positive towards each other.
Feeling relaxed amidst stress, fatigue
In the modern lifestyle, people spend most of their time on phones, televisions or computer screens within a home or office. Due to mental fatigue during daytime in-office, we are a victim of stress and if our body and mind relax in such an environment, our concentration increases and we feel joy. The heart is at peace, some time in the presence of nature from everyday hustle and bustle also gives us mental calmness and increases our creative capacity. Sometimes we find ourselves better off when we are mentally exhausted and out of the house for fresh air.
These activities are beneficial
It’s nice to walk, cycle or take long walks to pass your time in the middle of nature. That should keep the weight in check. There is less tension in the mass. Reduced pressure on the cardiovascular system also reduces heart beat and blood pressure. People who live too close to nature also have lower rates of heart disease. Being outdoors increases the body’s levels of vitamin D, which is important for bones, blood cells and the immune system. Nature reduces our anxiety. Stress and anger decrease. Living in a green space makes us less depressed. Being in such a place with others increases our social circle and leads to encounters with unknown people.
The positive effect of greenery
Being in natural light also makes for good sleep. Nature is not only beneficial for adults, but also for children. A study of 900,000 people born between 1985 and 2003 in Denmark found that children who lived in green spaces had a lower risk of mental disorders when they were growing up. People who regularly live near parks and green spaces, keep their connection to nature, are more healthy and live longer. Being in touch with nature, exercising, has a positive effect on their health.
We stand outside and sunbathe for 10-15 minutes, so there is a sense of calm. Walk on the grass for a while, you will feel great. Take deep breaths if you go for a walk. Enjoy the greenery on your home balcony. work from a laptop there. Picnic, play games there. Boat down the river. Read a book under a tree near the house. Create a garden on your terrace and cook food there. Do any activity that gives you a chance to spend time with nature.
