Udhampur, Jan 11: Police team of Police Station Chenani led by its SHO, while performing routine traffic checking at Nakka Motor Shed, NHW Chenani, intercepted a Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R taxi bearing registration number JK01AU-9625 coming from Jammu towards Srinagar.
During checking, the driver identified himself as Shakeel Ahmad Sofi S/o Abdul Rashid Sofi R/o Zainkote, Srinagar. On personal search, a heroin was recovered from his possession. Further checking of two other occupants namely Noor Mohd Ganie S/o Abdul Rahman R/o Zainkote, Srinagar and Junaid Fayaz S/o Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh R/o Shahi Hamdan Lane, District Srinagar also led to recovery of heroin from their personal possession.
In total, 8.29 grams of heroin was recovered from all the three accused persons.
Accordingly, FIR No. 03/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation is in progress.
