Swadeshi Sankalp Run with Dogri Oath at SMVDU held

KATRA, Jan 12: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University organized a marathon viz. "Run for Swadeshi (Swadeshi Sankalp Run)" on the occasion of 164th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, remarking the celebration of National Youth Day.
The event was held under the able guidance and inspiration of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, whose vision and encouragement played a pivotal role in the successful organization of the marathon.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the significance of organizing the marathon on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing the values of self-confidence, dedication, and responsible citizenship. He inspired the students and staff by recounting key episodes from the remarkable life of Swami Vivekananda, urging them to cultivate a healthy body and a disciplined mind as the foundation for achieving their life goals. The marathon was aimed at inspiring the use of Swadeshi and made in India products for promoting self-reliance and collective responsibility.
The marathon was flagged off by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, with participants demonstrating remarkable zeal, discipline, and commitment towards the ideals of physical fitness and national pride. On this occasion, students, faculty members, and staff also took a collective oath in Dogri language to promote and use Made in India (Swadeshi) goods and services, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
More than 300 students, faculty members, and staff members along with Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU enthusiastically participated in the marathon, symbolically reflecting the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The organization of the event reaffirmed the University's commitment to nurturing socially responsible and value-driven citizens through meaningful academic and co-curricular engagements.
