Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 12: The Central University of Jammu in Collaboration with Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Jammu Kashmir today organised a "Run for Swadeshi" on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, celebrated nationwide as the National Youth Day with great enthusiasm and a strong spirit of nationalism the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, DDE Building. The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. Paying rich tribute to the ideals and vision of Swami Vivekananda, Prof. Jain highlighted that youth are the backbone of the nation and a driving force behind India's growth and development. He encouraged students to imbibe Swami Vivekananda's ideals, emphasizing self-belief, self-reliance, and the spirit of Swadeshi. Prof. Jain further added that if the youth believe in themselves and promote Swadeshi in culture, tradition, and daily practices while responsibly using technology for human welfare then only India can emerge as a self-reliant and strong nation by 2047. He said true development cannot be built upon excessive use of foreign products. For Viksit Bharat 2047, we need to take a pledge to imbibe Swadeshi not only in thought but also in our actions by producing and consuming Make in India products. In this way, it will boost our economy and also build a strong, self-reliant developed nation by 2047 added Prof. Jain. While speaking on the occasion, Vipin, Prant Sanyojak, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Jammu & Kashmir, emphasised that the youth should follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in their life and actively contribute toward nation building through swadeshi mindset. He also reminded the youth about the famous quote of Swami Vivekananda "Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached." He further added that educational institutions are the centres where swadeshi mindset can be actively encouraged and inculcated. Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, CU Jammu administered a pledge for adopting swadeshi lifestyle and things for Atamnirbhar Bharat. Prof. Asit Mantry, Head of the Dept. of Educational Studies, discussed the snippets from the life of Swami Vivekananda and the reflections on his life for national development by Sri Aurobindo. He emphasised on the contributions of Swami ji and his rise as a youth icon. He urged students to look beyond textbooks and classroom learning and actively engage in research, innovation, creative pursuits, social service, and nation-building activities, stressing that the actions of today's youth will shape the country's future. Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students Welfare, Central University of Jammu, presented the vote of thanks. DDC Vice Chairman Suraj Singh, Prant Sampark Pramukh Ajay, Prant Parchar Pramukh Yash, Yuva Prant Pramukh Rajan, Prant Kissan Sangh parmukh Balkar Singh and various other members attended the program. The programme was organised by the Office of the Dean Students Welfare, Central University of Jammu, in collaboration with Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Jammu & Kashmir. The "Run for Swadeshi" effectively conveyed the message of self-reliance, unity, and national pride, transforming the event into a meaningful expression of youthful spirit and collective responsibility.
