Early Times Report REASI, Jan 12: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations and to ensure heightened security and public safety, District Police Reasi intensified naka checking across the district. As part of these special measures, a naka was established today at Masjid Chowk, Katra. During the checking and frisking of vehicles and pedestrians, the police party intercepted a red-coloured scooty bearing Registration No. JK20-B-0856. Upon thorough inspection, the police recovered 08 quarters of JK Special Whisky (250 ml each) and 01 bottle of Chenab JK Special Whisky (750 ml), which were concealed inside a black-coloured paper bag placed on the footrest of the scooty. The scooty was being driven by Mohd. Rafiq, S/O Mohd Shafi, R/O Sulakh Anji, Reasi. In this connection, a case FIR No. 19/2026 U/S 223(a) has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS reiterated commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for the public. |
