Early Times Report

Akhnoor, Jan 14: Senior BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member Pandit Suresh Sharma today held a review meeting with officials of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) department.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the construction of new road projects under PMGSY Phase-IV. Suresh Sharma directed the officials to prepare the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) at the earliest for the proposed roads in Maira Mandrian and Chowki Choura blocks and submit them to the government so that construction work can begin without delay.
He also reviewed the damage caused to several roads due to recent heavy rainfall. The roads discussed included Tanda to Kapae Di bah Fagal, Chagial to Kathar, Barui to Gadgal, Salangar Road, Tacharwan to Bala, Kufi to Godan, Kaneri–Ghar–Sandal, and other routes.
Suresh Sharma said that due to landslides and soil erosion, these roads have suffered heavy damage, causing serious inconvenience to the local population. He said that transportation has been badly affected and people are facing great difficulty in their daily movement.
He instructed the department to start repair work on these roads on priority so that the public does not have to suffer further.
The officials informed the meeting that the tender process for some roads has already been completed, and for the remaining roads, the tendering process will be finalized soon so that work can begin without delay.
Suresh Sharma also stressed that quality should not be compromised in any repair or construction work and directed the department to ensure durable and long-lasting development of road infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer Bhupinder Banotra, Assistant Executive Engineer Mohammad Faryad, and other engineers of the department.
