Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Jan 15: A mega Veterans' Rally was organised by the Crossed Swords Division at Tanda, Akhnoor, on Wednesday as part of the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day celebrations. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families from across the region. The rally was aimed at addressing pension-related issues, medical concerns and long-pending grievances of veterans, while also honouring their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the nation. The occasion also commemorated the invaluable contribution of veterans from the Akhnoor region during Operation Sindoor. As part of the outreach initiative, over 450 ex-servicemen, widows and Veer Naris were felicitated. Multiple facilitation counters were set up to provide on-the-spot guidance and assistance related to pensions, documentation, medical benefits, resettlement schemes and other welfare entitlements. Senior Army officials, along with representatives from concerned departments, interacted closely with the veterans and assured them of prompt redressal of their grievances. A medical camp was also organised, offering basic health check-ups, free medical consultations and medicines to veterans and their dependents. Addressing the gathering, the General Officer Commanding, Crossed Swords Division, stated that the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families are beyond any form of compensation. He reiterated that the nation remains eternally grateful to its veterans for their selfless service and dedication, and reaffirmed the Indian Army's steadfast commitment to their welfare, dignity and well-being. He further assured that such outreach programmes would continue to be organised on a regular basis. The rally concluded on a positive and patriotic note, further strengthening the bond of trust, respect and camaraderie between the Indian Army and its veterans. |
