VBYLD 2026 Strengthens Youth Policy Engagement

Jammu, Jan 15: Adv. Abheet Sangotra, Member of the Youth Advisory Council, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, met His Excellency the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir at Lok Bhawan, Jammu, following the successful completion of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026, held in New Delhi from 9th to 12th January 2026.
Adv. Sangotra led the Jammu & Kashmir Moderation Round of VBYLD 2026, which was managed by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Jammu & Kashmir. VBYLD 2026 is a flagship national initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, designed to institutionalise meaningful youth participation in governance, policy formulation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive development, aligned with the national vision of a Viksit Bharat.
The Jammu & Kashmir moderation round witnessed strong participation, with 29 students shortlisted for advanced evaluation. Among them, Kumkum Sharma and Suvidha Sambyal earned the distinction of presenting their policy ideas directly before the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who also engaged in one-on-one interactions with the selected young leaders. Additionally, two other students from Jammu & Kashmir presented their policy proposals before Union Cabinet Ministers, underscoring the growing institutional role of youth in national-level policy discourse.
The engagement reflects the Ministry’s commitment to empowering young leaders from all regions of the country and providing them with platforms to contribute directly to India’s policymaking ecosystem. The successful conduct of the Jammu & Kashmir moderation round stands as a testament to the region’s emerging youth leadership and its active participation in shaping the nation’s future.
