Early Times Report
JALANDHAR, Jan 16: Continuing its strong legacy of cultural excellence, Lovely Professional University (LPU) clinched the First Runner-up Trophy at the 39th Inter University North Zone Youth Festival (UNIFEST) 'Chit Utsav 2026', held in Chandigarh under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). With this achievement, LPU has qualified for the 39th AIU National Youth Festival 2026, scheduled to be held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The five day North Zone Youth Festival witnessed participation from 22 universities across northern India, with over 1,100+ students representing Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Chandigarh.
Demonstrating exceptional versatility and depth, LPU students competed across 28 events spanning music, dance, theatre, fine arts, and literary disciplines. LPU secured the First Runner-up position through outstanding performances, winning seven gold medals in Western Group Song, Light Vocal, Folk Dance, One Act Play, Hindi Debate, Spot Painting, and Cultural Procession, six silver medals and four bronze medals.
Congratulating the achievers, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, stated, that sustained success at national platforms emerges when talent is guided through discipline, mentorship, and a culture that values artistic expression alongside academics. Such accomplishments, Dr. Mittal said, contribute meaningfully to India's cultural legacy while shaping confident and responsible individuals.
This achievement further strengthens LPU's remarkable record at AIU youth festivals.
