VIJAYPUR, Jan 16: The Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur organized an informative and awareness-oriented lecture on the topic "How Does Drug Abuse Affect the Social Life of a Person" as part of its ongoing efforts to promote a drug-free society.
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Head of the Department of Education, who highlighted the far-reaching consequences of drug abuse on an individual's social relationships, mental well-being, academic performance, and overall quality of life. She emphasized how substance abuse leads to social isolation, family breakdown, loss of trust, and moral degradation, ultimately affecting the fabric of society.
Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, Nodal Officer of the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan Committee, addressed the students and stressed the importance of awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility in combating drug abuse. He encouraged students to act as ambassadors of change by spreading awareness among peers and the community.
The programme was held under the guidance of Dr. Ashu Vashisht, Principal, GDC Vijaypur, who appreciated the initiative of the committee and underscored the role of educational institutions in shaping responsible and healthy citizens. He urged students to stay away from harmful substances and focus on constructive life goals.
Before concluding the event two students were selected by the principal for the debate competition on the topic "Drug Addiction is mainly caused by personal choice and weak will power" to be held in MAM College, Jammu on 19/01/26.
The event reinforced the college's commitment to the objectives of the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and its mission to create a healthier, drug-free society.
