2nd DG Lohia Memorial debate held

JAMMU, Jan 19: Anand Jain Additional Director General of Armed Police, J&K remembered Mr. Hemant Kumar Lohia, IPS as a respectful senior, dear friend and an efficient Police Officer who has rendered meritorious services to Jammu & Kashmir especially in combating terrorism. He was speaking as a Chief Guest on the occasion of 2nd DG Hemant Kumar Lohia IPS Memorial Debating Contest held at Govt. MAM PG College Jammu on the Topic: This House believes, that Drug addiction is mainly caused by Personal Choice and weak will power. Around 20 students from 10 Jammu Colleges participated for and against the motion. The debate begin with the National Anthem and followed by welcome addresss by the Trustee Vikram Garg, CA and Vote of Thanks by Mr. DaleepDhar, Trustee. Prof. Dr. Chanchal Sharma Dogra, Retd. Principal and Prof. Anjali Mahajan, Principal GDC Nagrota acted as Judges, while the programme was coordinated by Prof. Amitpal Kour and Anchored by Dr. Bharti Salathia. ManitVerma from Govt. MAM College, Ridham from SPMR College of Commerce and AneeshaKour from GCW Gandhi Nagar bagged first second and third position respectively while TaranpreetKour from SPMR Commerce College and Mahi Gupta from GCW Gandhi Nagar got consolation prizes. Prominent among others presented on the occasion were Prof. Dr. ArchanaKaul, Principal Govt. MAM PG College Jammu, Rajiv Kumar Khajuria, Patron HKLM trust, Virender Gupta, President & Managing Trustee HKLM Trust and trustees Daleepdhar, Ashiq Bhat. Others present on the occasion include Ratan Bharti, Hafiz Kamal, Jatinder Aggarwal, KapilDhar, students and faculty members of MAM College and participating colleges.
Rajiv Khajuria, Patron of the Trust in his address congratulated Virender Gupta, President and Trustees for holding 2nd Memorial Debate in the memory of Hemant Lohia. He said that this is the occasion not merely to debate but to celebrate the remarkable life of Hemant Lohia and the cherished memories which he created across Jammu & Kashmir. He also remembered MadhuLohia for her significant contribution with Lohia Sir to Jammu & Kashmir.
Prof. Archana Kaul, Principal Govt. MAM PG College thanked the Trust for holding debate in the college and appreciated the organizers for choosing the topic related to Drug Addiction. She also complimented the role of J&K Police for their serious campaign against drug addiction.
Anand Jain in his presedential address shared many of his profound memories with Hemant Kumar Lohia. He disclosed that, hemet Lohia sir 26 years ago and had seen him consistently and dedicatedly working for the benefit of the state of Jammu & Kashmir by way of fighting against terrorism, keeping good liaison with Civil Society and Youth. He termed Lohia as a great officer who will be remembered in Police circles for his professionalism and respect to duty. He complimented the Hemant Kumar Lohia Memorial Charitable Trust for initiating debating contest in the memory of Lohia Sir and said that remembering Lohia through the medium of debate is a rich and intellectual tribute to the officer of the caliber of Lohia. He extended full support of Police Department to the Trust and assured that Police Department will fully support the Charitable activities of the trust. He appreciated the civil society of J&K and office bearers of the trust for remembering Mr. Lohia by forming the charitable trust which will long eternally in Jammu & Kashmir.
