For this vision he started Ramakrishna Mission which stands as a shining example of his lofty ideas, such as humanity, caste free system, spirituality, and ardent nationalism. His teachings helped in revitalising the people of India from Himalayas to Cape of Comorin, by harmonising all differences and infusing enormous strength in their minds and helping to raise them from stupor, lethargy, and despair. His contribution to awaken the people of India especially youth to a realisation of their culture and spiritual heritage is immense. He is one of the immortals who have given a new direction to our thinking and action in the cultural and political field. Swami Vivekananda has given much emphasis on recognising youth power for nation building. He had great conviction that Indian education should be man making and character making. Swamiji gave importance to the service of mankind and he used to say often that service to man is service to God. He has asked the people to serve the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and he was opposed to untouchability and said all Indian castes are divine and exhorted people not to discriminate on the basis of caste. To sum up it is appropriate to opine that Swami Vivekananda was a saint, patriot, author, poet, thinker and above all a great human being which is difficult to find in the world.
