DODA, Jan 21: In a continued effort to provide a positive platform for women youth and to channelise their energy in a constructive direction, Doda Police successfully organised the Grand Finale of the T-20 Women's Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025-26 at the Sports Stadium, Doda, today.
The vibrant closing ceremony was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, IAS, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, as the Special Guests. The event was organised under the overall supervision of ASP Headquarters Doda, Shri Mohd Aslam, who also served as the Nodal Officer for the Women's Cricket Tournament.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including DySP Headquarters Doda and DySP DAR Doda, along with other officers and officials of the Police Department and civil administration. A large gathering of spectators, prominent members of civil society, and representatives of the media fraternity were also present, lending enthusiastic support to the event.
A total of six women teams participated in the tournament, which was conducted on a league-cum-knockout basis. The grand finale match was played between Green Champs Doda and Dronacharya Cricket Academy Doda, in which Dronacharya Cricket Academy Doda emerged victorious. The winning team was awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while the runners-up received Rs 15,000. Participation certificates were also distributed among all the players.
While addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, IAS, expressed his pleasure at being part of the occasion and stated that the Women's Cricket Tournament was not merely a sporting competition, but a celebration of talent, determination, and the growing participation of women in sports. He congratulated all the participating teams for their enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsman spirit, and remarked that the confidence and energy displayed by the young women reflected a positive social change and a progressive mindset within the district.
He further emphasized that sports play a vital role in shaping character and instilling discipline, teamwork, and leadership qualities. Such initiatives, he said, provide a healthy and constructive platform for youth-especially girls-to pursue their passion and build self-belief.
