Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 21: On the request of Tawi Welfare Society, Ansuya Jamwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, today visited the Nikki Tawi Bridge and Government High School Suray Chak to assess the damages caused by the floods in August last year. During the visit, the ADC inspected the damaged approach of Nikki Tawi Bridge and the flood-affected infrastructure of Government High School Suray Chak, which have remained vulnerable since the natural calamity. After taking stock of the situation on the ground, she assured the volunteers of Tawi Welfare Society that the administration would take up the necessary repair and restoration works at these vulnerable points at the earliest. On the same occasion, Tawi Welfare Society organised a Ration Distribution Camp at Apnavan, Suray Chak, wherein 100 ration kits were distributed among needy and underprivileged families of the area. Demonstrating a humanitarian gesture, the ADC also distributed warm shawls to women, which she had brought along for the beneficiaries. The members of Tawi Welfare Society presented a formal request letter addressed to the Worthy District Development Commissioner, Jammu, to the Hon'ble ADC, demanding the immediate construction of the compound wall of Government High School Suray Chak, repairs of the damaged approach road to the school, and restoration of the flood-damaged approach of Nikki Tawi Bridge. The ADC, who was the Chief Guest of the programme, was accorded a warm reception by the members of the Society. She appreciated the dedicated volunteer services and social welfare activities being carried out by Tawi Welfare Society for the upliftment of the Tawi Island population. Yash Paul Mangotra, General Secretary, briefed the guest about the various developmental and welfare initiatives undertaken by the Society, while Nand Kishor, Senior Executive Member, expressed gratitude to the Hon'ble ADC for sparing her valuable time and for patiently listening to the issues faced by the residents of the area.
