Dialogue on sanitation conducted in various trains in Jammu division
1/23/2026 10:04:28 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 23: The Indian Railways Board periodically issues special instructions to ensure cleanliness during train journeys and to address the problem of littering on the tracks.
In compliance with these instructions, a team constituted under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mr. Uchit Singhal, conducted a dialogue on waste management in trains number 12414, 13152, and 12426 on January 22. During this dialogue, the train pantry car and OBHS (On-Board Housekeeping Services) staff were given guidelines on ensuring cleanliness and preventing littering on the tracks. The team also inspected the cleanliness of the trains and checked the identity cards of the concerned pantry car and OBHS staff. This was done because it has been observed that despite strict instructions, contract employees of the pantry or coach (OBHS) are still littering on the tracks.
Since the contractual staff changes frequently, explaining the procedures to them only once or twice is insufficient. To find a permanent solution to this problem, the process of "Daily Dialogue before the start of the journey" is now being implemented in all railway divisions.
The daily dialogue will be mandatory in every train. At the beginning of the journey, the supervisor will hold a meeting with their entire team and sensitize them about waste management.
The waste generated during the journey will only be collected in bags. These waste bags will only be unloaded on the platform at designated stations along the route. Upon the implementation of this new system, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Uchit Singhal stated, "The cleanliness-related 'dialogues' being conducted in the division are part of this new system. The railway administration will continue these in all trains to make the cleanliness system even more effective.
