Reasi Police takes action against unauthorized pony operator on SMVD Track

Reasi, Jan 25: Ahead of the forthcoming Republic Day-2026 and in view of enhanced security and strict enforcement of lawful orders, District Police Reasi, during routine patrolling on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Track within the jurisdiction of Police Post Ban Ganga, apprehended one unauthorised Pony Operator near Bathing Ghat-1, Ban Ganga.
During checking, the individual disclosed his identity as Ajaz Ahmed S/O Ghulam Mohd R/O Mulaas Shajroo, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi. On verification, he was asked to produce a valid registered service/pony card, upon which he admitted that he did not possess any authorised or registered pony card and stated that he assumed he would not be checked.
By working as a Pony Operator on the SMVD Track without authorisation/registration, the said person has violated the notification issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Katra.
Accordingly, FIR No. 38/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.
The whole operation was carried out by I/C PP Banganga PSI Rahul Jamwal and SHO P/S Katra Insp Rajnjeet Singh Rao, under the supervision of SDPO Katra Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singhreiterated that District Police Reasi has reiterated that stringent action shall continue, especially ahead of Republic Day-2026, against anyone violating lawful orders, to ensure safety, discipline and smooth conduct of activities on the holy SMVD Track.
