Narcotics peddling busted by Jammu police two drug peddlers arrested, heroin recovered

JAMMU, Jan 29: In a crackdown against drug trafficking, Jammu Police, South Zone achieved a significant success with the arrest of two drug peddlers and recovery of heroin-like substance in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
A case FIR No. 18/2026 under sections 8/21/22/25/27-A/29 NDPS Act and Section 111 BNS has been registered at PS Gandhi Nagar.
During naka checking, police party led by PSI Zubair Manzoor apprehended two suspicious persons near Karan Enterprises, Gandhi Nagar. During personal search:
Sonu Randhawa, S/o Bittu Randhawa, R/o Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar, was found in possession of 13.05 grams of heroin-like substance, along with a digital weighing machine, cash, and a mobile phone.
Shanu Mattoo, S/o Pappu Mattoo, R/o Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar, was found in possession of 7.67 grams of heroin-like substance along with cash.
The contraband was seized and sealed on the spot. The vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02DE-3906, used by the accused persons for transporting narcotics, was also seized. Statements of witnesses were recorded, and both accused were formally arrested in the case.
During investigation, it surfaced that the accused were engaged in selling small quantities (1-2 grams) of heroin to local youth, thereby endangering young lives and adversely impacting society by promoting drug abuse.

The main accused Sonu Randhawa is a history-sheeter of PS Gandhi Nagar and is involved in multiple criminal cases, including NDPS and heinous offences. His past involvement includes:

Jammu Police, South Zone reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the drug menace and appeals to the general public, especially parents and youth, to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking.
