Early Times Report BATOTE, Jan 30: District Police Ramban responded promptly to a distress call received on emergency helpline no 112 regarding outbreak of fire at the residential house of Chattu Ram S/o Lafi, resident of Ward No. 04, Panchayat Chakwa, Batote. Immediately upon receiving the call, a police party from Police Station Batote, along with the VDG Group Chakwa, rushed to the spot. During the preliminary enquiry conducted on the spot, it was revealed that the house is a three-storey structure and the fire originated from the top storey, reportedly due to a suspected short circuit. The fire spread rapidly from the upper roof, engulfing the entire structure. Demonstrating prompt action and effective coordination, the police party, with the active assistance of local residents, initiated immediate fire-fighting efforts and successfully brought the fire under control, thereby preventing further spread to nearby structures. No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. Notably Fire & Emergency Services were also informed at once. Due to the non-availability of a motorable road beyond Chakwa Bridge, the fire tender could reach at the site. Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) is an Govt. of India initiative to launch an integrated emergency response system with a single emergency number 112, to address different emergencies of citizens. District police Ramban advise people to use this emergency number judiciously. |
