| CM Omar’s Budget Assurance | | | Chief Minister Omar Abdullah concluded the pre-budget consultations in Jammu with an assurance that issues touching the skin of a common man will remain at the core of the forthcoming J&K budget. While chairing the meeting of the MLAs from Jammu region, the Chief Minister took the feedback from them regarding developmental works in their respective constituencies and stated that these consultations were not a mere formality but an essential exercise to understand needs of people at the grassroots level and their priorities. Pertinently, last year also the Chief Minister had held the pre-budget consultations with the stakeholders and when the budget was presented it did reflect the aspirations of the common man. This year also CM Omar has held talks with different people across Jammu and Kashmir and budget hopefully will reflect the aspirations of people again. The Chief Minister after meeting the people stated that all stakeholders are on the same page—that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should benefit. The Budget-making is more than a financial exercise; it is a moral statement of government priorities. When the Chief Minister stresses that issues affecting ordinary citizens will remain central to the budget, he underscores a people-first approach that is critical at a time when concerns such as unemployment, inflation, infrastructure gaps, healthcare access, and livelihood security continue to dominate public discourse. The real test, however, lies not in the consultations themselves but in how effectively public feedback is translated into budgetary allocations and actionable policies. The upcoming budget must strike a delicate balance between fiscal discipline and social responsibility. Priorities such as employment generation, strengthening of education and healthcare systems, rural and urban infrastructure, sustainable tourism, environmental protection, and support for agriculture and small businesses should receive focused attention. Additionally, targeted schemes for youth empowerment and women’s economic participation can yield long-term dividends for the region’s social and economic stability. Equally important is the need for transparent implementation. |
