UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: Udhampur Police has foiled a bovine smuggling attempt during naka checking at Naka Point Tikri under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rehambal.
Police party of PP Tikri intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. JK05L-6240 coming from Jammu towards Udhampur for routine checking. During inspection, 18 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle in a cruel manner and tied with ropes.
During questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as Ashraf S/O Bashir Ahmed R/O Rajbagh Fore Lane, Kathua and the co-driver as Mohd. Sharief S/O Mansa R/O Gehalote, Tehsil Panchari, District Udhampur. Both failed to produce any valid permission. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 22/2026 under Sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is underway. |
