'Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun' being staged at Abhinav Theatre
2/4/2026 11:01:38 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 4: Jammu is set to witness a moment of immense cultural pride as the internationally acclaimed theatre production Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun, written and directed by Padma Shri awardee Balwant Thakur, will be staged at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu on 6th, 7th and 9th February 2026 at 5:00 pm. These exclusive performances have been specially organised for the audiences of Jammu before the theatre group departs for Delhi, where the play has been selected to be featured at the world's largest international theatre festival.
This prestigious selection marks a historic milestone for Jammu's theatre movement, placing its young performers on a global cultural platform. In a rare and generous gesture aimed at encouraging public participation, entry to all three performances has been kept completely free of charge. The initiative reflects the deep commitment of Balwant Thakur towards nurturing theatre culture and making high-quality performing arts accessible to all sections of society.
Expressing his joy and hope, Balwant Thakur emphasized that this occasion is not merely a series of performances but a celebration for the entire region. He appealed to the people of Jammu to come forward in large numbers and support the young artists who are poised to create history. Special emphasis was laid on parents to bring their children to witness the play, as such opportunities are rare in Jammu where meaningful, high-quality theatre is created specifically with children and young minds in focus.
Highlighting the transformative power of theatre, Thakur noted that theatre influences not only those who perform but also those who experience it as an audience. In an age dominated by smart gadgets, mobile phones, and digital distractions, these performances offer a powerful alternative-an engaging, imaginative, and intellectually enriching art form that stimulates creativity, empathy, and critical thinking.
This initiative is an invitation to the citizens of Jammu to reclaim the joy of live theatre and invest in the intellectual and cultural growth of the next generation.
The staging of Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun is truly an occasion to celebrate-one that blends artistic excellence, youth empowerment, and cultural pride. Let us come together to make this celebration meaningful and memorable.
