SSP Kishtwar holds security review meeting

KISHTWAR, Feb 9: A comprehensive crime and security review meeting was held today at the District Police Office (DPO) Kishtwar under the chairmanship of Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, Shri Naresh Singh-JKPS.
The meeting, part of a series of strategic review exercises, aimed at assessing compliance with previous directives, evaluating the prevailing crime and security scenario, and ensuring preparedness for forthcoming events. Officers from Sub-Divisions Kishtwar, Chatroo, Atholi, and Marwah participated in the meeting and apprised the chair of area-specific issues, progress achieved, and challenges faced on the ground.
During the meeting, the following key aspects were reviewed and deliberated upon in detail:
Compliance with Previous Instructions: Assessment of follow-up action taken on directions issued during the last crime review meeting across all Sub-Divisions.
Recent Crime Trends and Investigations: Review of newly registered cases, pendency of investigations, disposal rates, and timelines to ensure expeditious and lawful investigation.
Security Scenario Detailed evaluation of the overall security environment, including border area vigilance, checkpoint operations, and quick response mechanisms to counter potential threats. Officers reported sustained dominance through cordon-and-search operations (CASOs), night patrols, and coordination with Army/ CRPF units, with directives to bolster Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and enhance CCTV surveillance in high-risk zones.
Beat System and Surveillance Measures: Emphasis on strengthening the beat system through regular beat patrolling, maintenance of updated beat books, and generation of real-time field intelligence.
Anti-Drug and Anti-Bovine Smuggling Drive: Review of enforcement actions with clear directions to intensify operations against persons involved in narcotics trafficking and illegal transportation of bovines.
Counter-Militancy Strategy: Stress on heightened vigilance, inter-agency coordination, and effective area domination, including proactive patrolling and CASO operations in vulnerable pockets, particularly in Chatroo and Marwah sectors.
Addressing the officers, SSP Kishtwar underscored the importance of sustained field presence, enhanced community engagement, and strict adherence to law-and-order protocols to maintain peace and security in the district. He directed officers to remain extra vigilant in sensitive areas and generate actionable intelligence to pre-empt any designs of anti-national elements.
The meeting was attended by Addl. SP Kishtwar Shri Pardeep Singh Goria-JKAS, Dy.SP Hqrs Kishtwar Dr. Ishan Gupta-JKPS, Dy.SP PC Kishtwar Shri Sharvan Singh-JKPS, SDPO Marwah Shri Ravinder Singh, SHOs, IC PPs, IOs, and other concerned officers of District Police Kishtwar.
