J&K Police At Forefront
2/9/2026 10:50:12 PM
While addressing the inaugural ceremony of the J&K Police’s Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament in Jammu, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha asked the Jammu and Kashmir Police to hit terrorism hard and join hands with the society to establish peace and security.
LG Sinha acknowledged the pivotal role played by the police personnel who sacrificed their today for the nation’s tomorrow, wore their uniform as a duty towards all, and prized national honor above life. He observed that real tributes to brave hearts don’t fade but pulses with life and runs through the veins of future generations.
History stands testimony to the fact that J&K Police remained at forefront to fight terrorism and separatism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The contribution of the force has been crucial in restoring a semblance of normalcy, protecting democratic institutions and ensuring that the writ of the state prevails. The success of counter-terror operations in recent years reflects not just improved coordination among security agencies but also the courage and professionalism of the local police force.
Besides fighting the Pakistan sponsored terrorists and separatists, J&K Police ensured that it built strong bonds with people by holding various programmes and organizing sports events.
Not only terrorism, during the past few years, drug abuse and smuggling of narcotics into the Union Territory have emerged as major threats. Unlike terrorism, its impact is gradual but deeply corrosive. Tackling this menace requires not only strict law enforcement but also social awareness, rehabilitation and parental vigilance. The police alone cannot win this battle; the entire society must rise to confront it.
LG Sinha’s message is clear: Peace in Jammu and Kashmir rests on a dual strategy—uncompromising action against terrorism and inclusive engagement with society. Honouring martyrs, empowering youth through sports, building trust with communities and standing united against drug abuse are all part of the same larger mission.
As J&K moves forward, the synergy between police and people will remain the strongest guarantee of a secure, peaceful and prosperous future. The Union Territory is moving forward to scale new heights and the day is not far when the terrorism would be wiped out from the region completely. The decisive onslaught against the terrorists and their supporters has shattered the terror ecosystem with J&K Police playing a frontal role.
