Jammu, Feb 10: The six-show series of the internationally acclaimed play “Aap Hamare Hain Kaun” concluded here today at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu, amidst thunderous applause and standing ovations from packed audiences throughout the run. The series, which began on 6th February, witnessed an overwhelming response from theatre lovers, students, parents, and intellectuals, reaffirming Jammu’s deep connection with meaningful and socially relevant theatre. Written and directed by Padmashree Balwant Thakur, “Aap Hamare Hain Kaun” has been selected for presentation at the world’s largest international theatre festival. Before leaving for the prestigious global event, Natrang exclusively organised six special shows for Jammu audiences, offering them an opportunity to witness a production of international stature. The series was presented with the support of Jal Jeevan Mission, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, and the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Two prominent educational institutions of Jammu—Delhi Public School and KC International School—extended their support by ensuring that their students experienced this thought-provoking theatrical production. Exclusive shows were organised for students of these schools, enabling young audiences to engage with a powerful artistic narrative addressing contemporary social challenges. IIM Jammu also hosted one show of this play which received appreciation and accolades of management students. Speaking on the conclusion of the series, Director Balwant Thakur expressed gratitude to the audiences and supporting organisations for their enthusiastic response and continuous encouragement. He reiterated that Natrang remains committed to taking theatre to every home and corner of Jammu and nurturing young talent that has the potential to create history for the region on national and international platforms. The play “Aap Hamare Hain Kaun” presents a compelling critique of the growing materialism, consumerism, and unrestrained ambition shaping modern society. It urges parents, educators, and guardians to pause and reflect on the emotional and moral pressures imposed upon children in the pursuit of prestige and personal aspirations. Through powerful performances and a poignant narrative, the play highlights how children are often treated as extensions of unfulfilled dreams, subjected to intense academic pressure and denied the freedom to explore their individuality and creativity. The production also explores the complexities of the contemporary education system, further challenged by rapid technological advancement and AI-driven learning environments. It raises pertinent questions about the erosion of creativity, empathy, and values, presenting a mirror to society and a strong call for introspection and change. The young artists who captivated audiences with their confident and professional performances included Aanandita Dutt, Samaeira Raina, Dwijesh Dutta, Aadhwika Gupta, Mahira Gupta, Anmol Sharma, Advik Sharma, Ruhaan Chandan, Kavish Sharma, Rishaan Marhatta, Suhani Sareen, Priyal Ashok Gupta, Supria Gorka, Aarohi Singh, Aaradhaya Thakur, Sachetas Anand, Araiya Shan and Gautam Bhagat.
